Exploring The Hidden Wonders Of Carlsbad Caverns National Park
While at Carlsbad Caverns National Park, we discovered something new: we need to start classifying our favorite national parks based on whether they are above ground or underground. After a full day exploring its many beautiful structures, we found our new favorite underground national park at this Carlsbad, New Mexico wonder.

Discovering the remote beauty of Big Bend National Park
Переглядів 460Місяць тому
We dry-camped at Rio Grande Village Campground in Big Bend National Park for 5 nights in 105-degree weather, but that didn't stop us from getting in a bunch of hikes and discovering firsthand why this national park is now one of our favorites. If you want to see wildlife, beautiful mountainscapes, and some of the darkest skies you can get in the United States, then Big Bend is for you. And, as ...

Since changing our rigs from a 21-foot Roadtrek Class B motorhome to a 30-foot Airstream trailer, we have been receiving questions about the pros and cons of each, which we like better, and how the change has affected our travels and adventures. After about 18 months in the Airstream, we feel confident sharing highlights of how vanlife compares to living in an Airstream. In this video, we ask y...

Colorado Bend State Park in Texas has achieved something incredible after all of our years of camping in state parks, this one claims the title as one of our favorites! We spent a weekend there camping, hiking, exploring caves, seeing a hidden canyon and more. If Colorado Bend isn't on your state parks bucket list, you need to add it. In the video, we reference our Michigan State Parks Project....
Collapsible water bottle review

Popdigito reached out about a new product they have: a collapsible, unbreakable silicone water bottle that we have been testing and it has become our go-to bottle for most of our activities! The water bottle is made of BPA-free food-grade organic silicone. It can be folded compactly but still holds more than half a liter of liquid when expanded. The clever design includes a patented sealing scr...
Hiking and camping tips for Garner State Park

We spent two days hiking at Garner State Park and enjoyed a nice campsite right along the Frio River. Garner is one of the most popular state parks in Texas, and now that we've been there, we can see why! With a ton of activities for just about every member of your family and a huge number of options for camping, this is a great park to check out. We opted to spend our time hiking and in this v...

While hiking at Garner State Park, we visited White Rock Cave and were really bothered by how many people have defaced it with spray paint! Our full review of Garner State Park publishes this Sunday, March 24, at 5 p. m. Central. We really liked this Texas State Park when it's not busy so be sure to check out our hiking and camping adventures there. . #hikecampgo #texas #texasstateparks #hiking...
Hiking and camping at South Llano River State Park

Despite the thunderstorms, we spent a day and a half camping and hiking at South Llano River State Park near Junction, Texas. It has a nice campground and miles of hiking trails to take as you look for wildlife, including the 250 species of birds that have been identified there. Also, if you're luckier than we were and have clear skies for camping, you can enjoy South Llano being an Internation...

Unveiling The Enchanting Past Of Fredericksburg Texas
Переглядів 2374 місяці тому
We visited Fredericksburg, Texas, recently to really dig into the history of this German-immigrant-founded town. We've been to Fredericksburg before, but this time we really dove deep into its stories. The Pioneer Museum, Old County Jail, and Veriens Kirche (Society Church) all have wonderful tales to tell if you take the time to listen. If you have the time, we also recommend the National Muse...

Utah's Goblin Valley: Tips For Making The Most Of Your Visit
I have an OCD spouse. He wants to place EVERYTHING in a plastic bag- like the water hose. I do NOT want to do this. He will NOT be traveling with me. How do you store stuff in the divers door area? No worries. I travel a lot, as absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Thank you , good video, I live here too. Hope you enjoyed our community. 🤗🤗🤗❤❤❤
I went through the U-boat in the 80's as a kid, then when I went back in the late 90's they had sealed off the Courtyard it was in so you couldn't go through it anymore. I'm glad it's been reopened. You also forgot about the Body slices in the glass when listing things lol.
It's easy to cross the river to the Bauer unit.
My husband’s great great grandpa George Cuyler was the lighthouse keeper and his great grandma was also born there ❤️
Forgot to tell people it’s $30 per person to get on the ferry to the island
That was a great idea!
It really was a fun break on a long drive.
I did this roadtrip back in 2018, started in East Texas, drove across state to Guadalupe Mnt hiked early day and after drove to Carlsbad to go underground and cool off evening. Big fan of your journeys❤️ Safe travels!
That's quite a road trip! Thanks for watching; we're glad you like our treks!!
Checked it out this last weekend, it is quiet and the lake access is really nice...
Glad you enjoyed the park. Thanks for watching and for commenting to let us know!
13 minutes from my home
Seems like a good place to live near. Thanks for watching!
Living the travel dream. thanks for sharing the explorations
Thank you for watching them!
Truly a real life Batcave and Ari & Jessi are the Dynamic Duo...🦇
Batman would have plenty of room down there, even with Robin and Batgirl and all the toys! 😄
Wow. You sure did butchered the name didn't you!? Also. U must educate yourself before you claim that all the elk have been killed off. You are the type of people who ruin our state with your nonsense
👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 exactly
🤣😂🤣😂 Clueless
Idk but I think would of sleep quite well in that submarine with the engines on considering how as a kid I slept through loud music blasting when it was the wedding or birthday parties of family members. Just give me two foldable chairs and a sweater and I’ll be out like a light bulb even if the big speakers were at full volume 😴😴😴

Since you are in New Mexico, Land of Enchantment, visit White Sands National Park. It is near Alamogordo. I just watched 5 of your Michigan State Park videos...very nice.
Yep, we made it to White Sands and checked out the Alamogordo area. Lots of fun. We have a future video coming out on that. Thanks for watching our videos!
The McDonald's is really neat! I can't believe an entire town is devoted to aliens. How fun!?!!
It is an interesting place, that's for sure. Thanks for watching!
Didn't even know this existed. What an interesting little town 👽
Always wanted to go to Roswell. Liked and subscribed!
We did have fun there! Thanks for watching, liking, subscribing and commenting. You did all the things! 😀
I have some reservations about Garmin. I have a smaller unit in my car, which I update several times a year. It is now about 4 years out of date on local speed limits. These are on roads I drive almost every day, and which have had speed limit changes over the years (some increased some decreased). If Garmin can’t keep up with changes to speed limits, can I rely on them to be up to date with data such as bridge clearance? I’ve also had problems with destinations. I was once taken to a bank instead of a museum (Trip Advisor app to blame) and been taken 20 or 30 Km to destinations which were supposedly only 3 or 4 Km away - difference between road distance and “as the crow flies”.
We have not had any issues with Garmin staying up to date with data on speed limits, or any other functions. Maybe the newer models update more frequently and that takes care of that? Hard to say. As far as the total distance versus crow flies, we have noticed that on all GPS programs lately, even including things like Google Maps. You'll look to see how far away something is and then decide to go. And when you say start directions, suddenly the distance becomes much further because the first reference must have been as the crow flies, which doesn't do any of us any good!
The pet beach, and the rest of the shoreline has had high water for many years. When we used the park in my childhood (mid 80's) the pet beach was a true beach. Not the park's jurisdiction, but I understand the water management out the Sable River is a complicated issue?
True, the high water line has affected a lot of beaches and state parks in Michigan for many years. Interesting to know that it used to be a much better beach for pets. We suspected as much! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Working for IBM I went to the Chicago IBM education center many times over the 35 years I worked for IBM. I recall visiting the U505 twice over the years. At the time it was outside. Thanks for refreshing my memory of the old 1980s and 1990s, days for me. Anyone going to Chicago should take the time for a great hands almost on, history lesson.
Thank you for sharing your memories. We never saw it when it was outside but we are so glad that it was moved inside not only for its historic preservation, but also because the inside exhibit now is a fantastic experience. We appreciate you watching and commenting!
Nice video. I've lived in my Roadtrek (08C170P) for 7 months now. Similar layout but different. Only a 2WD but I trailer my side-by-side and dirt bike for off road adventures. I'm alone so plenty of room. Already put 14k miles on it travelling between MN & South TX. Did not know about the storage under the toilet. Nice find. Happy trails.
We no longer have our Roadtrek because our travel style changed and our needs changed so we changed our rig. But there are many days when we still miss our Roadtrek. It sounds like you are having some awesome adventures with yours. Safe travels and keep on trekin'!
Love your tshirt, Where did you get it? Please send a link
It's one of my favorites but I received it as a gift and I don't know where they bought it from! -Ari
I grew up in McGill Nevada I spent a lot of time out there we had a😊 family reunion out there every summer
What a great place to have nearby. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you for doing these videos! They are very helpful as we plan our trips and try to knock out all the state parks. Have two small kids and would love to hear about the playground equipment in future videos if possible! Its always a crapshoot when we go if its a new extensive playground or just one or two old 1980s metal death slides lol.
We're glad you are finding these useful! Had to laugh out loud at the playground equipment. You are so right. A lot of times that has to do with how strong or big the friends of the park group is. We found numerous state parks where those types of updates are made possible only through volunteers and donations. The state doesn't seem to be investing in that type of stuff as much for families. And the old metal slides were good for learning about heat and at what temperature various parts of your skin can burn. So they really were more educational than modern slides. 😄 Safe travels to you and your family! -Ari
Looks kind of bleak and barren.
It's actually quite beautiful when you see the rocks, the mountains, and more in the area.
Says "everything around here is pretty" and then gazes at his lovely wife! 🥰
Ha! Must be good instincts. 😀 -Ari
U-110 British sailors from HMS Bulldog captured the first naval Enigma machine from U-110 in the North Atlantic in May 1941, seven months before the United States entered the war and three years before the US Navy captured U-505 and its Enigma machine.
Why let historical facts get in the way of a good story.
The allies had captured an enigma machine before capturing the U 505 submarine.
Every time I go to Canyon to visit relatives, I really just go for the canyon. I hate that people run over the rattle snakes just to take the tail.
U-853 was sunk off my hometown of Westerly, RI. It’s still there as a scuba site, 100ft of water. Still Nazis inside.
5:08 “Hot Bunking” is 2 men for 1 bed. It’s named that because, when you went to bed, it was still warm from the last guy.
1:08 We had submarines since the revolutionary war.
They really don’t look like a couple.
The map at the 1:23 mark is not the old track line of the Grand Rapids Indiana Railroad that became the White Pine Trail. The gray line appears to be U.S. Route 127 and the blue line Interstate-75. But, the trail would ONLY be, 30-50 miles west of the map depicted. Maxwell Smart would say, "missed it by that much." ua-cam.com/video/g2vZonSDUgk/v-deo.html
You are correct, that those are US 127 and I-75. I pulled up the route on Google Maps just to show it to people, not to show what the actual rail line was. Those are the existing roadways between the cities that the rail line originally covered. So you and I are both right, or we both missed it by just that much. Great reference by the way! 😄 -Ari
I live a minute up the road not even
Nice! We love visiting the U.P. when we're back in Michigan and can find time to get up there. Thanks for watching!
A really cool doll house is all you have to say to the people about the FABULOUS Collean More's fantasy palace dollhouse!!!
This place is 20 minutes from my house and I hike there about 3 times a week; starting at the visitor center going up and over Big Kennesaw, up and over Little Kennesaw, down Pigeon Hill, and then return back for a total of 6 miles. Along the 16.6 mile loop trail (Green Trail) there are 11 miles of some of the best preserved earth works from the Confederate positions in any Civil War battlefield anywhere. A place worth checking out is the Illinois Monument, also know as the “Dead Angle”, in the middle of the park. A very somber place if you read the back story of what happened there…
What a great place to have so close to home. Getting to know the trails as well as you have also helps make the connection to the past there even stronger. Thanks for watching and for sharing the information!
Yay Chicago ❗️
Thank you
You're welcome!
That rig is a real keeper. It probably gets lousy gas mileage but who cares. 😊
It was a unicorn and an awesome rig. We averaged 12 to 13 mpg when fully loaded, which isn't too bad in the RV world.
Great video! I’m glad you enjoyed your stay! You are right, there are many more things to do in the area. You could easily spend a week at Davis Mountains and have plenty to do each day. Safe travels!
Next time! 😁
The star party is good and it’s wonderful that you are not permitted to do videos. I really enjoyed it too, and the free camping just west of the observatory complex. Book your tickets in advance.
Free camping is always a nice bonus! Thanks for watching and sharing your tips.
Enjoyed the video. We where going to try and stay here when we visited last year. Unfortunately we couldn’t get a spot. Looks like we missed a great park. Will have to make sure we visit if we’re in the area again.
Yes, try again! We wished we had more time to just hang out and enjoy the park and the area more.
Not only were the German sailors from the U-505 "sequestered" the American sailors who were involved with the capture were also " sequestered" to prevent any leak of the capture. The US navy sailors who boarded the sinking sub to save it and capture it had some serious brass All in the highest tradition of the Naval Service
Thanks for this video! The dark sky and observatory stuff sounds fascinating. It's a shame you weren't able to shoot any footage in the observatory during the star party. That would be cool to check out.
It was a big part of our visit and we are so glad we discovered the star party was happening. If you get a chance, it's a beautiful area to visit.
We love camping, during the weekdays (early June), because there are NO kids... they are still in school!!!
Yes, as we have traveled more, we have found a big difference between weekday and weekend campers. 😄 Thanks for watching!
